Obesity

Obesity is taking over our world. More and more Americans are suffering from the fact that they are over weight. The conditions are getting out of control and I think it needs to STOP. People try to handle there weight but fat foods take over. Ever were you go you see fat and unhealthy restaurants. If we take out some of the unneeded places to eat we could end more than 25 percent of obesity.

Dieting

A combination of dieting and exercise is very difficult and hard to stick to it. to. Going to a gym every day is hard and tends to get out of hand. If you diet with supporting friends and family it will be a lot easier. When dieting, your main goal should be to learn new, healthy ways of eating and make them a part of your everyday routine. Remember that if you drop pounds slowly and steadily, you are more likely to keep them off. Eating healthy and good foods help a lot, fresh vegetables is what the body loves. Most people can lose weight by eating a healthier diet, exercising more, and using new skills such as keeping a food diary, avoiding fatty and unhealthy foods, and thinking positively.

Conditions

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. Heart disease includes heart attack, heart failure, and chest pain caused. A stroke is sometimes called a brain attack. Most strokes are caused by a blood clot blocking. Overweight people are twice as likely to gain type 2 diabetes as people who are not overweight. Type 2 diabetes reduces your body's ability to control your blood sugar. It is a major cause of early death, heart disease, kidney disease, stroke, and blindness. If you have type 2 diabetes, losing weight and being more physically active can help control your blood sugar levels. You may also be able to reduce the amount of medicine that you need.

Its not easy going on a diet, but it will all pay off in the end.

The book that I think they should make into a movie would be The Sea of Monsters. Although I think that when they make the movie I would prefer the movie would actually be similar to the book, unlike the movie Lightning Thief. The lightning thief was a good movie, but it was disappointing how it was nothing like the book. The whole sequence was different, and the whole point of the movie was different. I was very appalled. In my opinion the movie would have been a lot better if it was similar to the book. They took out some of my favorite parts in the movie. I was very mad.

If they do make a movie for the Sea of Monsters they should have the main character Percy actually be 12 not 20, like it said in the book. Annabeth should have blonde hair, like come on how hard is it to get some ones hair dyed.

In the book Sea of Monsters it starts out at school with just a simple game of dodge ball. Percy is stuck playing dodge ball against large seventh graders who turn out to be Laistrygonians. They through explosive fireballs and attempt to kill Percy, but he is protected by Tyson, a friend, who does not get hurt of harmed of the FIREballs. Annabeth saves Percy by stabbing the last Laistrygonian from behind and takes Percy and Tyson back to Camp Half-Blood. They find the camp under attack because Thalia's tree, which protects the camp, has been poisoned by an unknown intruder. Chiron has been fired because he is suspected of poisoning the tree, and is replaced by Tantalus, a spirit from the Fields of Punishment.

Percy finds out that Tyson is a Cyclops and Poseidon claims him as his son. Annabeth and Percy ask Tantalus to send somebody on a quest to find the Golden Fleece, which he does, sending Clarisse. Percy receives help from Poseidon, who gives them three Hippocampus, and together with Annabeth and Tyson, ends up on a passing cruise ship, the Princess Andromeda, which is revealed to be owned by Luke. They are captured and learn that Luke is trying to reform Kronos, a Titan who is the father of Zeus. They manage to escape and are later saved by Clarisse, who has a boat of her own that was given to her by her father Ares. It is destroyed upon entering the Sea of Monsters, known to us as the Bermuda Triangle. They reach the island of Polyphemus and save Grover with the help of Tyson and Clarisse, recovering the Fleece in the process. They make their way to Florida, and Percy sends Clarisse, with the fleece, back to camp. Percy, Annabeth, Grover and Tyson are captured by Luke. Percy manages to contact camp with an Iris-message, tricking Luke into admitting he poisoned Thalia's tree. In a duel with Luke, Percy is nearly killed. He is saved by Chiron and his relatives, the Party Ponies. Chiron is rehired after being proven not guilty, and the Fleece cures Thalia's tree of its poison, and Thalia herself is spewed out of the tree.

Why do actors, actresses, and singers get paid so much? Just think about it. They get paid around 25,000,000 dollars a year for doing absolutely nothing. Anyone can sing any one can talk. Why do they get paid so well for doing that? People who have an education and who actually work hard don’t even get paid half of what they do. People who actually make a difference in our world are treating just like everyone else- nothing. For intense teachers, they only get paid around 40,000 dollars. They should be the ones on news papers. They should be the ones on TV. They should be treated way better and should be payed what their standard is. They actually make a difference. They’re the ones who help us in our everyday life’s. Without them we would have or be nothing. But yet they only get paid so much. While singer, actors and so on do nothing in our society get paid as much as they want. What do singers do to help us? Yeah they give us music but how does that improve us? What do they do to change our country? Nothing! So why do they get paid such a high value for not even working hard? People who have an education and go to school and college should be paid way more than what famous people do. Its outrageous how much some people are paid who don’t have an education or who didn’t have to suffer through college. I think it’s just ridiculous.

Chasing Vermeer

I’m considering the book Chasing Vermeer by Blue Balliet. This book is mysterious and is all about coincidences. In the book play two characters Calder Pillay, and Petra Andalee who unlock the secrets of the famous art painter Johannes Vermeer. Petra is a character who is more into writing and likes to keep to her self. She is very shy and she likes to study the surroundings that happen around her. Calder is a character who prefers pictures rather than writing. He studies what’s happening in his life and how to solve every problem he can figure out. He likes to solve things with his petiminoes. He says each piece solves a solution that comes between him in the book.

Calder and Petra have no friends. Only there parents and there brother or sisters. Calder however has Tommy. They were best friends until his mom got married to a French guy name X Avaier. He acted all nice and fun and full of energy until his mom got married to him and made them move. Although Tommy and Calder don’t go to the same school they still keep in touch by sending letters to tell them what is going on in both of there lives. So know body else can read their letters they use code writing were only they having the key to figure out what the letter means.

In the book one of Johannes art paintings is being sent from The National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C to Chicago. When the painting called The Lady Writing is being sent an art thief steals the painting. Calder and Petra are on a mission to find out who took the painting and why they took it. As every thing is going terrible a mysterious letter shows up in the news paper. It was from the art thief saying that only some of the famous painter Johannes Vermeer is real the rest are fake and copied. The thief says that only some of Johannes paintings are real the rest were playderise to get money. As Calder and Petra are on a mission to find out who the art thief is Calder is concerned about the letter he got from Tommy. It says he has gone missing and his step dad X Avier has gone on a business trip. Calder is nervous, scared, and frightened he does not know what to do or how to do it.

The Illustrations.

Throughout the book there is a code hidden in the illustrations. The code involves images of pentominoes and a particular animal. To decode the code you must count the number of frogs in every other illustration, as well as find the hidden pentomino. Once you have collected these facts you may use the same code presented in the story that Calder and Petra use in the book. The code at is surprising at the end of the book I would of never guessed it. The book also uses this same code as a narrative device which, in turn, becomes a clue to the illustration puzzle.

The Lightning Thief

I think the movie the Lightning Thief was the worst movie I have ever saw. It had nothing to do with the book, it made no sense, and the whole plot of the book was different.

In the book a character named Percy Jackson plays 12 year old boy with ADHD and dyslexia. He has a hard life with a druggie as a step dad and only one friend to rely on. Until he finds out that his father is Poseidon and he’s a half blood meaning half god half human. Greek gods and animals are after him to reveille his true power. To keep safe Percy stays a camp were all Half Bloods go to keep from harm from the outside world. He teams up with his friend Grover and Annabeth to keep the world from having world war three. Percy’s journey leads him to meet his father Poseidon to. He has to receive the Zeus’s lightning bolt which was stolen. He finds out that the thief was one of his friends Luke. He was trying to start a war between all gods to ruin the real world. On there adventure Percy unlocks who he really is.

In the movie however the plot and quest is a whole new sequence. Percy plays a boy who tries to keep the world from ending. He still had to get Zeus’s lightning bolt back but the whole concept of how he did it was entirely different.

The movie was disappointing and they could of done a way better job of it.

My Characters

I liked the character Doon, because he wasn’t afraid of taking a risk. He played in the City of Ember as a 12 year old boy who always had to do things his way. Doon was mysterious meaning you never know what he’s going to do. You can always relate to him and put yourself into the situations he has in this book. In the book Doon was a kid who kept quiet to himself. Until Lina his old friend comes for his help. Lina has an old map that was chewed up by her little sister. So Doon and Lina are discovery the unlocked secrets that their city holds. As Doon and Lina are on there adventure they find out the mysteries to there city. They discover the real world and how the City of Ember got there.

About 300 years ago or so builders created the city underneath the floor we walk on. The builders brought fifty girls, fifty boys, and one hundred babies to an under ground city. The city was suppose to be uncovered years ago until a greedy mayor ruined the whole thing. As the city is dying of lack of food Doon and Lina set off through the river to unlock all the secrets of their city.

In this book Doon transforms from a mad and quiet person to someone who cares about someone rather than just himself. This book teaches a life lesson to meet new people and to care about other people. For example when Doon and Lina were going through the river they knew that they might not make it. Yet they knew they had to save their city of dying.

This book was fun and exotic. The author couldn’t have done a better way of writing it.

The character that I craved upon was Dimble Smith or D.S. D.S played in the book Canned as a fifty year old kidnapper. Dimble smith owned a factory that made dog food. D.S and his wife were cheep and ignorant. He made kids work at his factory for no money and no breaks. They were basically like slaves.

D.S and his wife were living large and only cared about one thing money. They were living a good and wealthy life. Until a kid name Fergal Bamfield comes and they trap him with the rest of the slaves. D. S and his wife thought it was just another kid and there was no trouble but they wrong. As Fergal is working in the canning factory his friend charlotte comes and saves them all. The factory was closed down and the kids were put back with there families.

Although the kids were free Dimble smith and his wife escape. Know one has ever seen or heard of them again. Know one really knows. All that we do no is that there gone. Know one will never know.

This book teaches you a life lesson not to be greedy, ignorant, and to be brave, to believe in yourself. When charlotte went to go save Fergal she knew that she might be trapped with the rest of them forever. She had to take a risk. A risk of going into an unfamiliar place to risk her life to save others.

This book is an amazing book that I could read over and over again.
